Pizza, Nicole's Pizza, I love Italian pizza, Sofia Pizza House, Balducci's House of Pizza,. To be clear, Greek pizza is not pizza topped with Greek ingredients such as feta cheese and olives (although it could be), but pizza made in restaurants opened by Greek immigrants who settled in the Boston metropolitan area. While the Amesbury House of Pizza tarts showed those two cornerstones of Greek pizza: the crispy, lacy edge and the fried bottom crust, The Pizza Factory's pies are comparatively heavy and one-note. If you've eaten Greek pizza, you've most likely eaten it at a place called Nick's Pizza, Village Pizza, Olympic Pizza, Pizza Factory, or Insert Town Name House of Pizza.
Amesbury House of Pizza is no longer there, they razed it to make way for a bigger and sexier Cumberland Farms, so when I get home and I crave a pasty and greasy piece, I go to a place called The Pizza Factory. If you grew up in or around the Boston metropolitan area between the late 1960s and today and you're not gluten or dairy intolerant, you've most likely eaten Greek pizza.
